European Parliament:

Delegation for relations with the Federal Republic of Brazil Belo Horizonte and Brasília, Brazil 2-6 November 2015                                                                                                            Paulo RANGEL (PPE, PT), will chair the EP delegation to Belo Horizonte and Brasília in Brazil. He will be joined by António MARINHO E PINTO (ALDE, PT), Carlos ZORRINHO (S&D, PT), Ashley FOX (ECR, UK), Inês Cristina ZUBER (GUE/NGL, PT) and Pablo ZALBA BIDEGAIN (PPE, ES).The visit will start in Minas Gerais, one of the 26 states of Brazil, where MEPs will discover a pioneer project of prison management without guards, meet with the Governor of the State of Minas Gerais, Fernando Pimentel, the Mayor of Belo Horizonte, Marcio Lacerda, and with several representatives from the state authorities as well as with industry representatives of the region.The second part of the visit will take place in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, where Members will meet with the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Brazil, Michel Temer, various ministers as well as with the President of the Federal Supreme Court, Ricardo Lewandowski. MEPs will have the opportunity to hold meetings with representatives of the Brazilian legislative authorities, amongst which Senator Aloysio Nunes Ferreira, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Relations and National Defence of the Senate, Senator Roberto Requião, Chair of the Brazilian representation in the Mercosul Parliament and Co-President of the Euro Latin-American Parliamentary Assembly (EuroLat) and Jô Moraes, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Relations and National Defence of the Chamber of Deputies. Besides an exchange of views on Brazil-EU bilateral relations, the talks with the Brazilian counterparts will focus on the state of play of negotiations of a free trade agreement with Mercosur.The delegation members will also work with representatives of the Brazilian industry and civil society, and commemorate the 20th anniversary of the EU-Brazil Cooperation at the National University of Brasilia.

Delegation to Freetown, Sierra Leone Delegation to Freetown, Sierra Leone 1-4 November 2015                                                                                                                                                    Norbert NEUSER (S&D, DE),  Adam SZEJNFELD (EPP, PL),  Beatriz BECERRA BASTERRECHEA (ALDE, ES) and Ignazio CORRAO (EDFF, IT).A delegation of 4 MEPs will visit Sierra Leone on 1-4 November to assess the long-term consequences of the Ebola outbreak in this country.MEPs will meet national authorities and representatives from NGOs, and will visit health and educational establishments. Members will also be informed about the latest developments concerning medical research on Ebola, in particular new drugs and vaccines against the disease.

Delegation to the UN General Assembly New York 1-3 November 2015                                   Elmar BROK (EPP, DE), Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, will lead the delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Subcommittee on Human Rights to the UN General Assembly between 1 and 3 November. He will be joined by Elena VALENCIANO (S&D, ES), Chair of the Human Rights Subcommittee, Andrej PLENKOVIĆ (EPP, HR), Othmar KARAS (EPP, AT), Jo LEINEN (S&D, DE), Eugen FREUND (S&D, AT), Amjad BASHIR (ECR, UK), Marietje SCHAAKE (ALDE, NL), Andrey KOVATCHEV (EPP, BG), Godelieve QUISHOUDT ROWOHL (EPP, DE), David MARTIN (S&D, UK) and Petras AUSTREVICIUS (ALDE, LT). MEPs are set to meet, among others, Mogens Lykketoft, President of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson, Ivan Šimonović, Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights, Hervé Ladsous, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jeffrey Feltman, Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Jennifer Welsh, Assistant Secretary-General, Special Advisor of the Secretary-General on Responsibility to Protect, or representatives of the UN Development Programme. They will also debate with the representatives of the four European Security Council Members, as well as the Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN.

09:00 – 19:00 Civil Liberties MEPs go to China to discuss psychoactive substances, data protection, serious crime and cybersecurity 2-6 November 2015, Beijing, China                    A mission from the Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee will go to Beijing from 2 to 6 November to discuss the threats posed by the commercialisation in the EU of new psychoactive substances. Other topics to be addressed during the visit are data protection policies, including the exchange of personal data with the EU, the fight against international serious crime, especially human trafficking and child pornography, and the prevention of cybercrime.

12:30 – 19:00 Delegation to the Azores, Portugal                                                                       Delegation of members of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee will visit the Azores (Portugal) from 2 to 5 November 2015 to discuss with local farmers, growers, cooperatives, industry representatives and local government officials the implementation of the recently reformed EU’s farm policy on the ground and ways to help producers overcome the recent agricultural crisis, in particular on the dairy market.

Delegation to the UN General Assembly New York 1-3 November 2015

 Industry, Research and Energy Committee delegation to Prague Between 3 and 4 November, a delegation of three MEPs in the Committee on industry, energy and research – Paul RÜBIG (EPP), Flavio ZANONATO (S&D) and Evžen TOŠENOVSKÝ (ECR) – will visit the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSA) Agency in Prague, Czech Republic.  Among other topics they will discuss “Security Aspects” with Stefano Iannitti, Head of Security, “Developing the market and ensuring uptake of Galileo and EGNOS” with Gian-Gherardo Calini, the GSA Head of Market Development as well as some concrete examples of EGNSS projects.

 Security and Defence Subcommittee’s Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) 3 – 5 November 2015 Michael GAHLER (EPP, DE) will chair the delegation of the EP Subcommittee on Security and Defence to Bosnia and Herzegovina between 3 and 5 November 2015. He will be joined by Bogdan Andrzej Zdrojewski (EPP, PL), Tonino Picula (S&D, HR) and Jozo Radoš (ALDE, HR). MEPs will meet with the representatives of the Government of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), including the minister of foreign affairs Igor Crnadak and minister of defence Marina Pendeš, their counterparts from the BiH Parliament, as well as representatives of the EUFOR mission and the BiH NATO Headquarters. They are also set to visit Krupa Ammunition Storage site, test case for the development of a life-cycle management system for ammunition storage for Armed Forces of BiH.                                                              Capacity building and training of the BiH Armed Forces, the renewal of the UN mandate for EUFOR Althea, disposal of excess ammunitions, weapons and explosives, cooperation with NATO and BiH NATO membership bid, the issue of foreign fighters and the migrant and refugee crisis will top the discussions.

08:00 – 19:00 Budgetary Control Committee mission to Germany                                         MEPs from the committee on Budgetary Control will travel to Germany (Berlin, Schwerin and Hamburg) from 3 to 5 November. They seek to gain a  better understanding of the calculation, collection and management of own resources and of the implementation of structural funds. The delegation will meet with Members of the Bundestag and representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the fiscal authority office and the customs criminal investigation office, as well as with regional authorities responsible for the management of structural funds. Two press conferences are planned, in Berlin and Schwerin.

13:00 – 20:00 Delegation to Croatia A delegation from the Transport and Tourism committee will be visiting Croatia from 3-5 November to meet with officials of Ministries of Transport, Infrastructure and Tourism, members of parliament  and local officials.

14:00 – 22:00 Delegation to Pilsen, European Capital of Culture 2015

In the context of European Capital of Culture 2015, a Culture and Education Committee delegation will visit Pilsen (Plzeň), in the Czech Republic, from 3 to 5 November 2015. The visit include meetings with political representatives and directors of cultural institutions from the region. MEPs will also visit cultural and heritage institutions in the city of Pilsen and its region.

Delegation to Japan Tokyo, Japan 4-6 November Eight MEPs of the European Parliament’s Trade Committee will visit Tokyo from 4 to 6 November in a fact finding mission. The group will be headed by INTA Chairman Berndt Lange, accompanied by Petr Jezek, chair of the EP’s Delegation for relations with Japan. During their visit, the delegation will meeting with members of the Japanese Parliament, senior Japanese government officials, Japanese and European businesses representatives and members of trade unions and environmental organisations. MEPs to go to Japan are: Bernd LANGE (Chair of EP Trade committee and Head of the Delegation), Petr JEŽEK (ALDE,CZ) , chairman of the Del. for relations with Japan, Artis PABRIKS (EPP,LV), Jaroslaw WALESA (EPP,PL), David MARTIN (S&D,UK), Pedro SILVA PEREIRA (S&D, PT), Emma MCCLARKIN (ECR,UK), Hannu TAKKULA (ALDE,FI).

Delegation to Ukraine Ukraine, Kyiv                                                                                                 A delegation of 7 MEPs, led by Andrej Plenkovic, will be in Ukraine, Kyiv on Wednesday 4 November to meet their counterparts from the Ukraine Parliament (Verkhovna Rada) for a working session of the “Parliamentary association committee” (PAC) which contributes to the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. The working session will host guests, such as representatives of Ukrainian government, the EU and the former President of the EP Pat Cox, to exchange on current security situation in Ukraine’s East and EU-Ukraine trade and energy relations.                                                                           MEPs and Ukraine MPs will debate results of local elections, the humanitarian situation in the East of the country, implementation of the Minsk agreements, annexation of Crimea by Russia, constitutional reforms, Ukraine’s readiness to implement the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade deal with the EU from 1 January 2016 and the EU-Ukraine cooperation in the energy sphere.                                                                                               MEPs who will go to Ukraine are: Andrej PLENKOVIĆ (EPP, HR), Chair, Tibor SZANYI (S&D, HU), Andrea BOCSKOR (EPP, HU), Anna Maria CORAZZA BILDT (EPP, SE), Mark DEMESMAEKER (ECR, BE), Jasenko SELIMOVIC (ALDE, SE), Petras AUSTREVICIUS (ALDE, LT).

EU-Vietnam Interparliamentary Meeting Delegation to Vietnam4-6 November            Werner LANGEN (EPP, DE), Marc TARABELLA (S&D, BE), Jeroen LENAERS (EPP, NL), Seán KELLY (EPP, IE), Olga SEHNALOVA (S&D, CZ), Richard ASHWORTH (ECR, UK), Barbara LOCHBILER (Greens/EFA, DE)                                                                                  Werner Langen (EPP, DE), Chair of the Delegation, will lead the 7MEPs Delegation to the EU-Vietnam Interparliamentary Meeting on 4th till 6th November in Hanoi in Vietnam.The aim of the delegation is to enhance partnership and cooperation between the EU and Vietnam. The Vietnam–EU Free Trade Agreement to deepen trade, economic and investment cooperation will be discussed at the meeting, together with other issues such as climate change and human rights.

 European Parliament:                                                                                                             4th Meeting of the EU-Republic of Tajikistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Dushanbe (Tajikistan) 5-6 November 2015                                                                                Iveta GRIGULE (ALDE, LV) will chair the meeting of EU-Republic of Tajikistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in 5-6 November 2015 in Dushanbe. She will be joined by Viktor USPASKICH (ALDE, LT), Kostadinka KUNEVA (GUE/NGL, EL), Ismail ERTUG (S&D, DE), Ryszard CZARNECKI (ECR, PL), Joachim ZELLER (EPP, DE), Ulrike MÜLLER (ALDE, DE) and Andrejs MAMIKINS (S&D, LV).                                                  MEPs will meet with their counterparts in the Tajik Parliament (Majlisi Oli) and the representatives from NGOs working in the field of human rights and democracy. They will also be given a presentation of an EU-funded project, the Border Guards Training Centre.The main topics of discussions will be the political situation in Tajikistan and overall relations between the European Parliament and the Majlisi Oli since the last PCC meeting in July 2013 and in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections in Tajikistan in March 2015, the economic situation and challenges faced by Tajikistan, including economic and social reforms, investment climate and the impact of the Russian and Chinese economic situation, the state of EU-Tajikistan development cooperation, situation of human rights and rule of law in Tajikistan, plus regional issues such as fight against terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking, strengthening the Tajikistan – Afghanistan border and a water policy.

Delegation to Myanmar 5-10 November Ana Gomes (S&D, PT), Lars Adaktusson (EPP, SE), András Gyűrk (EPP, HU), Sandra Kalniete (EPP, LV), Goffredo Bettini (S&D, IT), Rikke Karlsson (ECR, DK), Judith Sargentini (Greeens/EFA, NL) The EP Delegation of 7MEPs led by Ana Gomes (S&D, PT) is going to Myanmar to observe general elections which will take place on 8 November. They will monitor the polling stations and the vote count. The delegation will also meet representatives of the two political parties, the USDP General Secretary for Yangon Region U Thar Win and a Veteran Patron U Tin Oo from the NLD the day before the elections on Saturday 7 November. The elections are the first free general elections to be held since the country started political reforms in 2011.

Delegation to the first meeting of the EU-BiH Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee

Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) (BiH) 5-6 November 2015  Tonino PICULA (S&D, HR), will lead the EP delegation to the first meeting of the EU-BiH Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee in Sarajevo on 5 and 6 November. He will accompanied by Dubravka ŠUICA (EPP, HR), Jozo RADOŠ (ALDE, HR), Terry REINTKE (Greens/EFA, DE), Davor Ivo STIER (EPP, HR) and Julie WARD (S&D, UK). Aside of the two working sessions of the SAPC, Members will hold meetings with members of the BiH Presidency, the Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers, Denis ZVIZDIĆ, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igor CRNADAK, the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Vjekoslav BEVANDA, as well as with their counterparts of the BiH Parliament and with NGOs representatives. They will discuss the state of play of EU-BiH relations, public finances, regional cooperation, protection of human rights and liberties. The refugee crisis facing EU and BiH will also be high on the agenda. The Stabilisation and Association Agreement between BiH and EU entered into force on 1 June. According to the SAA a joint EU-BiH Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee is created. The constituent meeting of this joint parliamentary committee will take place in Sarajevo on 5-6 November. The Committee is co-chaired by MEP Tonino PICULA (S&D, HR) and BiH MP Nikola LOVRINOVIĆ.
