Organised by the Legal Affairs Committee, MEPs will debate with legal experts the cross-border implications of the legal protection of vulnerable adults. This is a major issue, as there is an increasing number of mobile senior citizens within the European Union. Each Member State has a legal system in place to protect such persons, but there is no effective system to ensure that the protection remains in place following a move – or even during a temporary stay – to another Member State.
