European Parliament: Brussels, 9:00 – 12:30 LIBE Committee – Anti-terrorism measures. In the wake of recent terrorist attacks and threats, Commission representatives will present and discuss proposed new EU-wide anti-terrorism measures with MEPs during a short Brussels plenary session, starting at 15.00, on Wednesday. Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos, EU Anti-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove and representatives of the Raising Awareness Network (RAN) will brief the Civil Liberties Committee on “deradicalisation” and foreign fighters. (Tuesday) 15:00 – 15:30 LIBE Committee, Money laundering. A deal on new legislation to fight money laundering, tax crimes and terrorist financing will be put to a vote in the Economic and Monetary Affairs and Civil Liberties committees. Under the deal concluded by EP and EU government negotiators, the ultimate owners of companies would have to be listed in central registers, which would be accessible to people with a “legitimate interest”, such as investigative journalists.
