The JURI Committee is the European Parliament’s standing committee on Legal Affairs. It’s main area of competence lies in the interpretation and application of European law and the compliance of European Union acts with primary law. If the European Union is affected by international law this also falls under the competence of the JURI Committee.
Currently, the JURI Committee chair is Mr. Pavel Svoboda from the EPP (elected on 7th July 2014).
